Martin Gould took consolation from his astonishing century break and “a fantastic season” following a thrilling first-round World Championship defeat by Ding Junhui at the Crucible.
Gould, 34, lost 10-8 to Ding, who had to qualify for this year’s tournament after slipping out of the top 16.
But Londoner Gould, the world number 12, could reflect on a great year.
