Hainan makes all under Cook
- Updated: January 6, 2017
Latest news from this afternoon’s meeting at Wetherby where Hainan struck for Sue Smith and Danny Cook.
Allfredandnobell has already shown more over timber than in his Flat career and broke his duck at the second attempt in the Racing UK Juvenile Maiden Hurdle at Wetherby.
Without a win in 12 outings over the past couple of years on the level, he was third on his hurdling debut at Catterick and stuck on tenaciously to win for Micky Hammond and Finian O’Toole.
The 2/1 joint-favourites Dusty Raven and Bob’s Boy took each other on from some way out, but Allfredandnobell (5/1) stayed on best between the pair to win going away by two and three-quarter lengths.
“He ran well on his debut and has backed that up today,” said Hammond.
“He’s obviously a better hurdler but he has ended up with a very workable mark on the Flat (54) and that might be something we’ll look at in the future. We’ll just take it one step at a time, though.”
