Slovakia – SBL Round 22: Lucenec beats Iskra Svit by two after a very close game

MilicBlagojevic SBL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 22 rounds left. The most exciting game of round 22 in the SBL took place in Lucenec. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Iskra Svit (11-10) to eighth ranked Lucenec (8-11) 98-96 on Wednesday evening. Lucenec made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian swingman Milic Blagojevic (200-91) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Garrick Sims (203-91, college: Lake Erie) contributed with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Puerto Rican point guard Javier Gonzalez (185-89, college: N.Carolina St.) replied with 24 points and 6 assists for Iskra Svit. Lucenec moved-up to seventh place. Iskra Svit at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Lucenec are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Nova Ves (#11) at home in the next round. Iskra Svit will play against Levice (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. The game between 10th ranked Nitra (2-18) and sixth ranked Rieker KN (10-9) in Nitra ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Komarno outscored Nitra 93-57. Slovenian forward Sinisa Bilic (201-89, agency: 011 Sports) scored 25 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Wayne Langston chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Rieker KN’s coach Richard Duris felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Serbian forward Filip Pejovic (198-89, college: Erskine) responded with 15 points. Rieker KN have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 10-9 record. Nitra lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Nova Ves. Rieker KN will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nitra will play at home against Karlovka (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. In the last two games of round 22 Handlova was beaten by Levice on the road 80-65. Karlovka was destroyed by Kosice on its own court 59-93.
