A firecracker of an innings by David Warner hurtled Australia to a lead of 340 over Pakistan after Younis Khan’s excellent rearguard dissuaded Australia’s captain Steven Smith from sending the visitors back in to bat on another rain-interrupted day of the SCG Test.
The entirety of the first session was lost for the second time in as many days, leaving a minimum 68 overs to be bowled on day four and a further 98 on day five. Warner was certainly not in the mood to waste any time, hammering 55 from 27 balls to put Pakistan immediately on the back foot. He took particular toll on Yasir Shah.
