Mariners open annual Caravan on Monday

SEATTLE — Reliever Dan Altavilla and outfielder Ben Gamel, two key youngsters in Seattle’s plans this season, will be part of the Mariners Caravan when it hits the road Monday and makes its first stop in Yakima, Wash.
The Caravan will visit about two dozen communities across the Pacific Northwest over the next three weeks, with current and former Mariners players, broadcasters and the Mariners Moose attending school assemblies, visiting Boys & Girls Clubs and hospitals and hosting several free public autograph and photo sessions as well.
Altavilla and Gamel will open the tour along with broadcaster Mike Blowers on first-day stops at Ahtanum Valley Elementary in Yakima, as well as a free public autograph session at the Yakima Valley SunDome from 4:30-6 p.m. PT.
