PredragMiletic The most important game in the last round took place in Wien between third ranked Raiffeisen Wels (9-6) and sixth ranked Vienna (7-8) on Thursday night. Raiffeisen Wels were defeated by Vienna on the road 75-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Raiffeisen Wels. The game without a history. Vienna led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 23 Raiffeisen Wels turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian Predrag Miletic (193-84) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) who added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side Czech center Ales Chan (215-80, college: Seton Hill) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Raiffeisen Wels’ coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Vienna have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Raiffeisen Wels at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. Vienna will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Raiffeisen Wels will play at home against Arkadia Lions and are hoping to win this game. Bottom-ranked UBSC Graz managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the three-game losing streak. This time they edged sixth-ranked Arkadia Lions in Traiskirchen 71-69. The winners were led by international Anton Maresch (191-91) who scored that evening 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Milos Krivokapic supported him with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds by Argentinian-Italian forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Arkadia Lions. UBSC Graz (5-9) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Furstenfeld. Arkadia Lions at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Kapfenberg. UBSC Graz will play against league’s second-placed Gmunden Swans in Gmunden in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Arkadia Lions will play on the road against Raiffeisen Wels and it may be a tough game between close rivals. A Bundesliga top team – Redwell Gunners Oberwart (12-2) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat fifth ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (6-8) 69-62. Derek Jackson fired 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Bogic Vujosevic produced 21 points for lost side. Redwell Gunners Oberwart have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-2 record. Kapfenberg Bulls lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Arkadia. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will meet at home Furstenfeld Panthers (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Kapfenberg Bulls will play against Dukes in Klosterneuburg and hope to secure a win. Second ranked Gmunden Swans (10-4) crushed at home 9th ranked Dukes (4-10) by 22 points 84-62, which is the biggest margin this round. It was a very good performance for Austin Steed who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gmunden Swans maintains second position with 10-4 record having just two points less than leader Oberwart. Dukes at the other side stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Gmunden Swans’ next round opponent will be UBSC Graz (#8) on the road where they are favorite. Dukes will play against Kapfenberg Bulls and hope to win that game. …
