Aldon Smith 2017 Reinstatement Rejected: Latest Comments and Reaction
- Updated: December 31, 2016
Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith won’t be suiting up for his team as it prepares for the playoffs.
The NFL confirmed they will not reinstate Smith and will instead re-evaluate his situation in March, per ESPN.com.
ProFootballTalk.com’s Mike Florio initially reported the news.
The NFL suspended Smith in November 2015 after his arrest in August of that year on charges of vandalism, driving under the influence and hit-and-run. He pleaded not guilty.
The 27-year-old applied for reinstatement in October, with his suspension set to end on Nov. 17.
