Bautista, Blue Jays ‘engaged in contract discussions’
- Updated: December 29, 2016
The Blue Jays and Jose Bautista’s representatives are “engaged in active contract discussions,” sources told MLB Network insider Jon Paul Morosi on Thursday.
A source told Morosi earlier this week that Toronto had not made a formal offer worth more than the one-year, $17.2 million qualifying offer extended to the free-agent slugger at the beginning of the offseason. That echoes what sources told MLB.com’s Gregor Chisholm earlier this month.
