Landmark victory for Amy Murphy

Kalane gave first-season trainer Amy Murphy her biggest success to date when taking a Listed Mares’ Chase at Doncaster.
The Newmarket-based handler had her first winner just last month and has now had a total of six victories under all codes.
With four horses being late withdrawals as the going dried out to good, only five went to post for the extended two-and-a-half-mile contest with Kalane, owned by Murphy’s father Paul, sent off the 4/6 favourite.
A faller in this race 12 months ago when trained by Charlie Longsdon, Kalane again made a bad mistake at the fifth fence with Jack Quinlan doing well to stay in the saddle.
Viky Du Reponet made the running until the seventh-last fence where Kalane took over, but she was challenged and headed three from home by Colla Pier.
