‘Adapt or leave, Sturridge’

Daniel Sturridge must adapt to Jurgen Klopp’s style of football or face up to the possibility of leaving Liverpool, according to Dean Saunders.
Sturridge has started just four times in the Premier League this season with manager Jurgen Klopp preferring to deploy Roberto Firmino in an advanced forward role, leading to speculation in the national press that the 27-year-old could be allowed to leave the club in the January transfer window.
Saunders believes Sturridge still represents Liverpool best attacking option, but concedes the 27-year-old is still yet to fully adapt to Klopp’s high pressing style of football.
“I think Sturridge is up there with [Sergio] Aguero, talent wise. Firmino has been playing up the middle for Liverpool because he is better at getting the ball back. Sturridge, for real cutting edge and hurting you as a striker, is up there with the best,” Saunders told Premier League Daily.
