Belgium – Euromillions League Round 13: Belfius Mons-Hainaut beats Basic-Fit Brussels by three after a very close game

This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (6-7) to sixth ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (7-6) 68-65 on Monday evening. Belfius Mons-Hainaut made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Belfius Mons-Hainaut outrebounded Basic-Fit Brussels 45-32 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Romanian center Alexandru Olah (213-93, college: Northwestern) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. American forward Justin Cage (198-85, college: Xavier) contributed with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Brandon Ubel (209-91, college: Nebraska, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 11 points and 9 rebounds for Basic-Fit Brussels. Belfius Mons-Hainaut moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Spirou and Kangoeroes. Basic-Fit Brussels lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Belfius Mons-Hainaut is looking forward to face Leuven Bears (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Basic-Fit Brussels will play against Kangoeroes and are hoping to win this game. Very important is a road loss of third ranked Spirou Charleroi (7-6) against fifth ranked Okapi Aalstar (8-6) on Monday night. Visiting Spirou Charleroi was crushed by Okapi Aalstar in Aalstar 102-82. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Spirou Charleroi. The former international swingman Olivier Troisfontaines (192-89, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 8 assists for the winners and John Tofi chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) responded with 22 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Okapi Aalstar moved-up to third place. Spirou Charleroi at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Kangoeroes and Mons-Hainaut. Okapi Aalstar will play against bottom-ranked Limburg United (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Spirou Charleroi will play against the league’s second-placed Antwerp Giants (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Euromillions League top team – Oostende (10-3) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Limburg United (3-10) 93-70. Rasko Katic nailed 22 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Seth Tuttle came up with 17 points and 8 rebounds for Limburg United in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Oostende have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 10-3 record, which they share with Antwerp. Loser Limburg United stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. They share it with Leuven. Oostende will meet Liege Basket (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Limburg United will play against Okapi Aalstar and hope to secure a win. The game in Willebroek was also worth to mention about. 5th ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (6-7) played at the court of seventh ranked Kangoeroes (7-6). Kangoeroes managed to secure a 7-point victory 88-81. American players dominated the game. Terrance Henry fired 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Kangoeroes’ coach Daniel Goethals used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Kangoeroes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Spirou and Mons-Hainaut. Basic-Fit Brussels lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Kangoeroes’ next round opponent will be again Basic-Fit Brussels (#7) on the road. The game between seventh ranked Kangoeroes (7-6) and 9th ranked Leuven Bears (3-10) in Willebroek on Monday ended with biggest points difference. Kangoeroes outscored guests from Leuven 100-67. It was a very good performance for Terrance Henry who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Kangoeroes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Spirou and Mons-Hainaut. Leuven Bears lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Kangoeroes will face Basic-Fit Brussels (#7) on the road in the next round. Leuven Bears will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut and hope to win that game. In the last game of round 13 Liege was smashed by Antwerp on the road 90-64.
