YuriyIgnatev The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Minsk: Impuls BGUIR (#5) and BSEU-GrandPrint (#7). BSEU-GrandPrint was defeated at home 73-79 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BSEU-GrandPrint won third quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Impuls BGUIR forced 24 BSEU-GrandPrint turnovers. Forward Yuriy Ignatev (202-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds. Genadziy Zahar (200-92) contributed with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Impuls BGUIR’s coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Vitaliy Lebedev (200-99) answered with 20 points and 5 steals for BSEU-GrandPrint. Impuls BGUIR maintains fifth place with 7-7 record. BSEU-GrandPrint lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 15 games lost. An interesting game for COR-Borisfen (14-0) which played road game in Minsk against 3rd placed Tsmoki II (10-4). Leader COR-Borisfen managed to get a 4-point victory 63-59. Ukrainian center Maksym Kozlovets (205-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Vytautas Kamarunas chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Forward Maksim Liutych (200-97) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Tsmoki II’s coach tried various players’ combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Undefeated COR-Borisfen have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Grodno-93. Tsmoki II lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third place with four games lost. An interesting game for COR-Borisfen (14-0) which played road game in Minsk against 3rd placed Tsmoki II (10-4). Leader COR-Borisfen managed to get a 6-point victory 71-65. Alexander Kharkevich nailed 16 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Maksim Liutych came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for Tsmoki II in the defeat. Tsmoki II’s coach let to play ten players, but that didn’t help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for COR-Borisfen. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Grodno-93. Tsmoki II lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the third place with four games lost. The game between fourth ranked Vitebsk (9-7) and 7th ranked BSEU-GrandPrint (3-15) in Vitebsk ended with biggest points difference. Vitebsk outscored guests from Minsk 101-69. The best player for the winners was Marsel Ovsepyan who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Vitebsk’s coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Vitebsk. They maintain fourth place with 9-7 record. BSEU-GrandPrint lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 15 games lost. In the last game of round 17 BSEU-GrandPrint was beaten by Vitebsk on the road 89-78. The most impressive performance of 17th round was 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists by Victor Ovsepyan of Vitebsk.Tsmoki II – COR-Borisfen 59-63An interesting game for COR-Borisfen (14-0) which played road game in Minsk against 3rd placed Tsmoki II (10-4). Leader COR-Borisfen managed to get a 4-point victory 63-59. It looked good early as Tsmoki II took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then COR-Borisfen had a 21-6 second period charge getting the lead and Tsmoki II was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-63. COR-Borisfen dominated on the defensive end, holding Tsmoki II to just 6 points in second quarter.
