Report: Bautista open to Blue Jays deal if over qualifier

Veteran free agent Jose Bautista could be willing to take a one-year deal to return to the Blue Jays if the value exceeds that of the $17.2 million qualifying offer, according to a report from Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan on Friday night.
Bautista’s willingness to sign a one-year contract improves the likelihood that Toronto could bring him back, since it could see if he regains the form that made him the face of the franchise without having to commit to the 36-year-old long term.
