Kosovo – SuperLeague Round 13: Sigal Prishtina defeats Trepca in the game between Top 4 teams

Jamie SkeenAn interesting game for Sigal Prishtina (10-2) which hosted in Prishtina 4th placed Trepca (8-5). Third ranked Sigal Prishtina had an easy win 80-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Trepca. Sigal Prishtina have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Bashkimi. Trepca at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Sigal Prishtina is looking forward to face Rahoveci (#6) in the next round. Trepca will play against Kerasan and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident. SuperLeague top team – Peja (10-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Vellaznimi (2-11) in Gjakove 97-73. American forward Jamie Skeen (205-88, college: VCU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and Arti Hajdari chipped in 24 points. At the losing side guard Arian Qallaku (195-92) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Peja. They maintain first place with 10-1 record. Vellaznimi at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Peja will play against Bashkimi (#3) in Prizren in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Vellaznimi will play on the road against Ylli (#5) in Suhareke and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Bottom-ranked Kerasan is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 13th consecutive match to fifth ranked Ylli (5-7) 82-68 on Friday evening. Urim Zenelaj nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds for the winning side. Rinor Ahmeti came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for Kerasan in the defeat. Ylli maintains fifth place with 5-7 record. Kerasan lost their thirteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost. Ylli will meet at home Vellaznimi (#7) in the next round. Kerasan will play against Trepca in Mitrovice and hopes to get finally their first victory.The game between third ranked Bashkimi (10-2) and 6th ranked Rahoveci (4-8) in Prizren ended with biggest points difference. Bashkimi outscored guests from 87-62. Imer Tahiri fired a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Bashkimi moved-up to second place, which they share with Sigal Prishtina. Rahoveci lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Bashkimi’s next round opponent will be league’s leader Peja in Peje and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rahoveci will play at home against the league’s second-placed Sigal Prishtina (#2) and hope to win that game. …
