Reds claim Shaffer, Jenkins off waivers

The Reds announced a pair of waiver claims on Friday, claiming infielder/outfielder Richie Shaffer from the Phillies and right-hander Tyrell Jenkins from the Rangers. In addition, Reds catcher Juan Graterol was claimed off waivers by the D-backs.
Shaffer had been claimed off waivers by Philadelphia earlier this month, but the team designated the 25-year-old for assignment on Tuesday. A first-round Draft pick by the Rays in 2012, Shaffer played the past two seasons for Tampa Bay and hit .250/.315/.438 with one home run in 20 games in …
