Astros’ McCurry draws 50-game suspension

Mario Alcantara, Dakody Clemmer, Arnaldo Hernandez, Brendan McCurry and Jake Romanski have been suspended for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, the Commissioner’s Office announced Thursday.
All five players received 50-game suspensions without pay for breaking the rules of the drug policy.
Alcantara is a free agent, so his suspension is effective upon signing with a Major League organization. The 23-year-old right-hander pitched for the Class A Advanced Salem Red Sox in 2016, going 9-2 with a 3.16 ERA.
