Eagles’ trade shows Cowboys price to take QB early

IRVING, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys no longer have the highest draft pick in the NFC East.
That belongs to the Philadelphia Eagles, who acquired the second overall pick in a trade with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday.
Time to worry?
Maybe if Carson Wentz or Jared Goff, whichever quarterback the Los Angeles Rams don’t take, turns into a franchise quarterback in years to come.
The Eagles have now committed $22 million to Sam Bradford, $7 million to backup quarterback Chase Daniel and will pay more than $24 million guaranteed to their first-round pick.
That’s a lot of money to three quarterbacks.
But what does it mean for the Cowboys, who pick fourth?
First, they won’t take a quarterback at No. 4 unless they surprise everybody and go with Memphis’ Paxton Lynch. Second, they could get the best defender in the draft depending on what the San Diego Chargers do with the third overall pick.
If the Chargers go with Ole Miss tackle Laremy Tunsil, then the Cowboys could take Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey or Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa to shore up a defense that needs …
