Eagles-Browns trade could have trickle-down effect on Jets’ QB plans

The quarterback carousel was spinning on Wednesday.
Free agent Brian Hoyer visited the New York Jets, left without a contract and is headed to meet with the Denver Broncos. The Philadelphia Eagles jumped six spots in the draft, moving up to No. 2 overall — where they will undoubtedly pick a quarterback.
Let’s try to make sense of all this, at least from a Jets’ perspective:
Impact of trade: The Jets could be greatly affected by the Eagles-Cleveland Browns trade. If the Jets have any hope of drafting Jared Goff or Carson Wentz, they can forget it. Goff and Wentz will be the first two players off the board, count on it. I believe the Jets were interested in making a bold move for a quarterback, dangling Muhammad Wilkerson as trade bait, but the cost to jump from 20th to second was prohibitive — and unrealistic.
The Jets also could miss out on the third-best quarterback prospect, Paxton Lynch. The Browns, …
