Canadians Sarah Darcel and Mary-Sophie Harvey on 2:07s in the 200IM and Britain’s Imogen Clark on 29.6 twice in the 50 breaststroke for world season top 10 rankings; Brit Freya Anderson on 53.1 in the 100 free, teammates Brodie Williams, on 1:55.19 in the 100m back, Joe Litchfield taking a breathless brace and Canadian Danielle Hanus a backstroke triple. Harvey had held sway all week, setting Canadian recirds in the 400m medley and the 400m freestyle along the way. The last day of racing at the meet and it was Darcel’s turn to write a line in the Canadian books. The Island SC charge struck from go in the 200m medley: out in 27.65, fending off Harvey at half-way on 1:00.12 to 1:00.46 and in command after breaststroke on 1:36.67 to 1:38.19. Surely Harvey, Neptune Natation, had no chance from there.

Chance: 29.69 on freestyle: 2:07.88, another big personal best – but 0.1sec shy of overhauling Darcel, who set a national age mark with her 2:07.78. Kayla Sanchez, 15 (AAC/HPC-Ontario) took bronze in 2:09.95.

If all of that gace the top two Canadians places in the season world top 10, then ranks topped of the day went to Clark, on 29.64 in 50m breaststroke heats and 29.67 for the win later, a 6th place on the global list a mark of the quality of her swim and dominance on the day. Faith Knelson, …
