Pundits predict Mersey Monday

Everton and Liverpool are preparing to do battle in front of the Sky Sports cameras on ‘Mersey Monday’ but who do the Soccer Saturday pundits expect to triumph?

Liverpool travel to Goodison Park looking to maintain their Premier League title charge, while Ronald Koeman’s men will be looking to build on the momentum from their midweek comeback win over Arsenal.

Ahead of the Monday Night Football clash, here’s what Phil Thompson, Matt Le Tissier, Charlie Nicholas and Paul Merson are predicting in their Sky Bet tips…

I was actually glad they got the monkey off their back with that win against Arsenal because they were due a result.

To finish so strongly is fair credit to them, but they could’ve been a few down after half-an-hour after they started so poorly.

The supporters will be demanding the same again, but it’s hard for Everton to do that for 90 minutes because the mileage they’ve been putting in as a team has not be great and they’ll probably be feeling it from that big effort.

Their players have got a few more with derbies under their belt, with the likes of local lads Ross Barkley and Leighton Baines, so it will be up to Jordan Henderson to raise the Liverpool team and remind them of the importance of this match.
