Falcons’ Ryan ‘absolutely’ concerned about CTE

In the wake of ever-growing evidence that links chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, to football, some NFL players are opting to retire early instead of risk further head trauma. Others will continue their career but with the understanding that football is inherently dangerous, and repeated concussions can have detrimental long-term effects long after the playing days are over.

Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan, who is entering his ninth season, admits that the links between football and CTE are scary.

“Absolutely,” Ryan said, via ESPN.com’s Vaughn McClure. “Obviously, I think everybody understands the issues that kind of come with head trauma.
