Referee Craig Pawson ended a week marred with controversy with another contentious decision when he sent off Leicester striker Jamie Vardy at Stoke.
Pawson, who only booked Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo for a two-footed lunge on Wilfried Zaha on Wednesday, sent off Vardy on 28 minutes when he dived in on Diouf, although the England international appeared to have returned to the ground by the time the tackle was made.
The normally mild-mannered Claudio Ranieri was livid with Pawson at half-time and had to be dragged away by goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
