Chelsea’s dominance in the Premier League continued as they defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Diego Costa grabbed his 13th goal of the season to claim top spot in the goalscoring charts, as the Blues went nine points clear at the summit of the division.
Eden Hazard returned for the west London club after injury, but a yellow card for Costa means he will be suspended for the Boxing Day clash against Bournemouth.
In the day’s other games, Middlesbrough deconstructed a poor Swansea City, winning 3-0 in the north-east. Stoke City lost a two-goal lead to champions Leicester City, drawing 2-2 as Jamie Vardy saw red.
Sunderland and West Ham United collected 1-0 victories, beating Watford and Hull City, respectively.
