Mazara named Rangers’ top rookie

ARLINGTON — Outfielder Nomar Mazara has been selected as the Rangers’ Rookie of the Year for the 2016 season by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, the club announced on Twitter on Friday.
Mazara, who was called up to the Major Leagues on April 10, played in 145 games for the Rangers and batted .266 with 20 home runs, 64 RBIs and a .419 slugging percentage. He was the American League Rookie of the Month for both April and May.
