Molly Renshaw’s Winter Meet 200m Tops World Title Winner: 2:17.98 British Record

ASA Winter Meet, Sheffield
The ASA Winter Meet crown in the women’s 200m breaststroke in Sheffield was won in a time faster than it took to win the world title in Windsor, Canada, last week. No matter: same swimmer, Molly Renshaw cracked her own British record with a 2:17.98.
There was quality elsewhere in the race too, Katie Matts, 18 and racing for Stockport Metro, on 2:21.28 (1:07.54), the bronze to the winner’s teammate Emma Day, in 2:24.89 but it ws Renshaw who stole the show.
Buoyed by her win in Windsor, the 20-year-old raced through splits of 31.57, 1:06.37 and 1:41.85, the second half of her race where she gained water on the pace of her world-title swim of 2:18.51, via splits of 31.49, 1:06.35 and 1:42.03 for victoruy 0.01sec ahead of Canada’s Kelsey Wog, Britain teammate Chloe …
