Carew undergoes heart transplant surgery

Nearly 15 months after suffering a heart attack near his Southern California home, Hall of Famer Rod Carew underwent heart transplant surgery Friday. According to the American Heart Association, the procedure began around midnight PT, and was expected to take 18 hours to complete.
“Please keep Rod in your prayers,” Carew’s family said in a statement released to American Heart Association News.
