It was already a big week with the return of Jon Jones at UFC 197 on Saturday, but now it’s even bigger. UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor retired on Tuesday and announced it via Twitter. Ultimately, what we understand is McGregor is training in Iceland and still dealing with witnessing a fight that lead to the death of a fighter in Dublin. He’s uninterested in pre-fight promotional work at the moment. Besides, he’s helped the UFC previously on a number of critical occasions and likely believes he’s earned it.
