Dodgers, Twins talking Dozier trade

The Dodgers and Twins have had ongoing discussions regarding a possible trade that would send Minnesota second baseman Brian Dozier to Los Angeles, sources told MLB.com’s Jon Morosi on Wednesday.

Per Morosi, no deal is imminent, but the two sides “remain in dialogue.”

With veteran Chase Utley now a free agent, the Dodgers are looking to make a play for Dozier to help fill their vacancy at second base.

Dozier set an American League record for most home runs in a season by a second baseman when he clubbed 42 total long balls last season.

The 29-year-old still has two years and $15 million remaining on his current contract.

O’s moving on from Castillo? It appears Welington Castillo may not be headed to Baltimore after all. Talks between Castillo and the O’s have reportedly slowed, and it appears more likely the free-agent catcher will sign a multiyear deal with another club, according to Dan Connolly of BaltimoreBaseball.com.

Castillo, who was non-tendered by the D-backs earlier this month, had emerged as Baltimore’s primary target in its quest to replace Matt Wieters this winter.

Castillo, 29, hit .264 with 14 home runs and 68 RBIs in 113 games for Arizona last season. He owns a career .255/.318/.416 slash line through parts of seven seasons in the big leagues with the Cubs, Mariners and D-backs.

It’s unclear whom the Orioles may now be pursuing to fill their void at catcher. They’ve previously been linked to free-agent backstops Nick Hundley and Chris Iannetta. Re-signing Wieters also remains an option, but his free agency may extend into January, when the Orioles would risk missing out on any potential alternatives should he sign elsewhere.

Cubs interested in Detroit reliever The Cubs have contacted the Tigers about possibly acquiring left-handed reliever Justin Wilson, according to Morosi.

The 29-year-old Wilson appeared in 66 games for Detroit last season, posting a 4.14 ERA and 10.0 K/9 innings. In 2015, he posted a 3.10 ERA in 61 innings for the Yankees.

Prior to joining New York, Wilson was with the Pirates, the club that drafted him in the fifth round of the 2008 Draft. In all, Wilson pitched 138 1/3 innings while with the Cubs’ National League Central rival, giving him substantial experience within the division.

Jansen, Turner look like they’re returning to LA The Dodgers and closer Kenley Jansen have agreed to a five-year deal, a source told Morosi, and the club is near a four-year deal with third baseman Justin Turner.

Jansen earned his first All-Star selection in 2016 and rewrote the Dodgers record book, supplanting Eric Gagne as the franchise all-time saves leader while tying for second in MLB with 47 saves.

He was second among NL relievers with a 1.83 ERA, limiting opponents to a .150 batting average, the best in MLB, as was his 0.67 WHIP. He struck out 104 with only 11 walks.

Turner, who turned 32 last month, hit .275/.339/.493 with 27 home runs in 2016, posting a career year. His return would provide Los Angeles with a much-needed right-handed bat, and he is viewed by the Dodgers as a plus in their clubhouse.

Turner is a .282 career hitter in eight Major League seasons with the Orioles, Mets and Dodgers.

Bautista still talking to Blue Jays

The Blue Jays and free-agent slugger Jose Bautista remain in contact about a potential reunion, according to Morosi.

Bautista’s representatives met with the club on Wednesday, though the two …
