Source: Cardinals nearing deal with Fowler

The Cardinals could be nearing an agreement with free-agent outfielder Dexter Fowler, a source told MLB.com. MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch confirmed a Thursday report by Frank Cusumano of KSDK Sports noting that Fowler is scheduled to take a physical in St. Louis on Friday. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale tweeted that the two sides are close to a deal.
