Ray puts full arsenal on display in efficient win

SAN FRANCISCO — In pitching the D-backs to a 3-0 win over the Giants on Tuesday night, Robbie Ray had his changeup and breaking ball working, and he had his usual electric fastball.
When he puts the entire mix together, the lefty “excites us,” Arizona manager Chip Hale said. “It gives us a chance to have a really, really good club with him in the five hole.”
Ray scattered five singles and struck out eight over six innings, but more importantly he limited his walks to just two after allowing a total of nine in his first two starts.
“Everything was working well for me,” Ray said. “Offspeed, I was able to throw it in and out of the zone, but mainly just my fastball command, I was able to get it in and out on guys. The slider was on tonight. It was probably the …
