10in10: Prutton’s players to watch
- Updated: December 8, 2016
Ten EFL games in 10 days will be screened live in December and we’ve asked David Prutton for his players to watch.
The feast of football kicks off on Friday with Brighton v Leeds and there’s the East Midlands derby between Derby and Nottingham Forest to come, while Aston Villa, Newcastle, QPR and in-form League One sides Sheffield United and Bolton will also be in action.
Here, Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Prutton looks ahead to the busy 10 days of action, pinpointing players to watch. Hit the videos for his in-depth analysis on each game….
Fri Dec 9: Brighton v Leeds (7.45pm, Sky Sports 1 HD & Sky Sports Mix)
PLAYER TO WATCH: Glenn Murray (Brighton)
“He has experience of promotion and leads the line with a real maturity, having played in the Premier League. A presence up front and he could be the difference for Brighton this season.”
PLAYER TO WATCH: Pontus Jansson (Leeds)
“He’s got a discipline to his game and brings composure to the Leeds defence. There’s a real feel-good factor between himself and the fans – they know he’s committed to the cause.”
Sat Dec 10: Preston v Blackburn (5.30pm, Sky Sports 1 HD)
PLAYER TO WATCH: Jordan Hugill (Preston)
“He’s found a home at Preston, where Simon Grayson’s management style has brought the best out of his game.”
PLAYER TO WATCH: Craig Conway (Blackburn)
“The assistor-in-chief. He cuts in onto his right foot to great effect for a team fighting its way back from the wrong end of the table.”
Sun Dec 11: Derby v N Forest (12pm, Sky Sports 1 HD)
PLAYER TO WATCH: Jacob Butterfield (Derby)
“A key part of Derby’s engine room, he has been revitalised under Steve McClaren. He brings a balance to the team, mixing attack with defence.”
