Puel dismisses Fonte exit talk

Claude Puel has dismissed suggestions Southampton will look to sell captain Jose Fonte in the January transfer window.
Fonte, who has just 18 months remaining on his contract at St Mary’s, revealed on Wednesday he would not be offered an extended deal by the Saints.
The Portugal international defender, 32, is yet to feature for Southampton in the Europa League this season, leading to speculation his continued absence was due to the club’s desire to offload him in the New Year.
But, ahead of Southampton’s final group match against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Puel said: “It’s not true, about not playing so he can move in January.
