Cardinals now 0-5 against Cubs and Pirates

ST. LOUIS — Granted, it is a small sample size, five measly games worth.
But at some point the St. Louis Cardinals are going to have to beat a good team. After their 2-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, they are 0-5 against the other two contenders in the NL Central and 7-2 against the teams that have been accused in some quarters of tanking this season.

The offense has cooled off considerably in the first two games of this series. On one hand, that’s not surprising, because the Cardinals faced Atlanta, Milwaukee and Cincinnati the previous three series, averaging more than eight runs a game.
