The quality of the podium placers showed across the breadth of the pool in a 200m butterfly final that put a smile back on the face of South African Chad le Clos, a man who lost his Olympic crown to Michael Phelps in Rio, felt he had lost his pride in a fourth-place finish but had other reasons to hold his head high.
