Slammers victorious in IPTL

Nick Kyrgios comfortably beat Fernando Verdasco 6-1 as the Singapore Slammers defeated the Japan Warriors in the International Premier Tennis League on Tuesday.
Kiki Bertens gave the Slammers the perfect start with a 6-2 victory over former world No 1 Jelena Jankovic and Rainer Schuettler stretched Singapore’s lead further when edged Fernando Gonzalez 6-5 in the Legends’ game.
Bertens earned her second victory of the day, this time alongside Marcelo Melo in the doubles, when the duo defeated Jankovic and Jean-Julien Rojer to open up a 3-0 lead in sets.
