Padres’ Ross needs more time on disabled list

SAN DIEGO — Padres pitcher Tyson Ross was back on the field Tuesday night, just not on the mound, as he continues to recover from a right shoulder injury.
Ross, the Padres’ Opening Day starter, played catch for the first time since being placed on the disabled list on April 4. He played catch for five minutes from about 70 feet under the watchful eye of the Padres’ medical staff.
What’s clear is Ross, who complained of tightness in the shoulder, isn’t exiting the DL on Wednesday when he’s eligible to do so.
