Jarrod Saltalamacchia a display of Tigers offensive depth

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Another day that ends in “Y,” another Jarrod Saltalamacchia home run.
The 30-year-old catcher ripped a two-out, three-run shot in the seventh inning of the Detroit Tigers’ 8-6 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night, providing his club one last push to try and knock off the reigning World Series champs in Detroit’s first game of the season against its division rivals.
That charge didn’t last, but Saltalamacchia now has a team-leading five home runs and a whopping 14 RBI in 30 at-bats this season, which leads the American League.
Again, not to belabor the point here, but this is a guy who was unceremoniously released last year and was then signed to a one-year, league-minimum deal …
