Marlins in pursuit of Jansen, Chapman

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. — A potential closing target is about to come off the free-agent market, but the Marlins remain firmly in the mix for either Aroldis Chapman or Kenley Jansen. Miami had also expressed interest in Mark Melancon, who reportedly reached an agreement with the Giants on Monday afternoon.
The Marlins’ primary candidates all along have been either Chapman or Jansen. The pursuits of the two free agents are among the most followed topics at the Winter Meetings.
