Cam Newton Sits 1st Play vs. Seahawks, Derek Anderson Given Start

Quarterback Cam Newton did not start for the Carolina Panthers in Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.
According to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, the quarterback is healthy but was benched due to a coach’s decision.
Backup Derek Anderson got the start for the Panthers and responded by throwing an interception on the first play from scrimmage. Newton returned to the field on the next possession.
