Kane: We’re itching to play

Harry Kane says he and his Tottenham team-mates are happy to play catch-up to league leaders Leicester City.
Spurs closed to gap to the Foxes at the top of the Premier League on Monday with a 4-0 win over Stoke at the Britannia, after Claudio Ranieri’s men had been held to a 2-2 draw at home to West Ham the previous day.
Tottenham play after Leicester in every round of fixtures between now and the end of the season but Kane says Spurs will use that position to their advantage, rather than be hindered by it.
“The lads have been itching to play,” Kane said. “Watching all the football over the weekend and having to wait until Monday night to play, gets you ready, gets you firing.
“Watching the games, it was a chance for us to gain some points and we’ve gone out there and showed what we’re capable of.”
Kane scored twice as Tottenham comfortably beat the Potters in the first of three consecutive Monday night matches for the north London club.
