Garcia, Lawrie settle with White Sox for 2017

CHICAGO — Avisail Garcia and Brett Lawrie settled with the White Sox for the 2017 season, while six other arbitration-eligible White Sox were tendered contracts. Right-hander Blake Smith was not tendered a contract and is now a free agent.
Other arbitration-eligible players that were tendered contracts include third baseman Todd Frazier, right-handers Zach Putnam and Jake Petricka, left-hander Dan Jennings and starter Miguel Gonzalez. First baseman Jose Abreu also opted into arbitration and out of his three guaranteed years during this current offseason.
