Norris returns to Nats in deal with Padres

The Nationals announced Friday they have acquired Derek Norris from the Padres in exchange for Minor League right-hander Pedro Avila, bringing the veteran catcher back to the club that drafted him in 2007.
Norris, 27, adds backstop depth, as Wilson Ramos enters free agency. He is looking for a bounce-back year after hitting a career-worst .186/.255/.328 in 125 games in 2016 for the Padres, for whom he’s played the last two …
