Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said Bastian Schweinsteiger has a future at Old Trafford past January after he made his first appearance for the Red Devils since March on Wednesday.
The German midfielder came on as a late substitute in United’s 4-1 home EFL Cup win against West Ham United to a rapturous ovation, signalling his return to the fold after Mourinho had previously indicated he would not be picked again, per the Press Association (via the Guardian).
Ahead of United’s Sunday Premier League clash with Everton, Mourinho confirmed that Schweinsteiger, 32, could still be at the club in the second half of the season, per the Times’ Paul Hirst:
