Saunders set for Akavov test

Billy Joe Saunders is aiming to become the first man to stop Russia’s Artur Akavov in the first defence of his WBO middleweight title on Saturday.
The Hatfield boxer (23-0, 12 KOs) will finally put his world title on the line against challenger Akavov (16-1, 7 KOs) at Paisley’s Lagoon Leisure Centre after a frustrating 11 months.
The 27-year-old was originally scheduled to make his first title defence against Ukraine’s Max Bursak seven months ago but a hand injury in training ruled him out.
