LeBron on facing Pistons: ‘It’s not me vs. Stan’

LeBron James vs. Stan Van Gundy. LeBron James vs. Stanley Johnson.
These are two of the stories so far after one game of the first-round series between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons. James has struggled against a Van Gundy-coached team in the past, when his Cavs were eliminated in the 2009 Eastern Conference finals by SVG’s Orlando Magic. In this series, he’s battling the Pistons rookie Stanley Johnson, who put out a nice effort in defending LeBron for small stretches in Game 1 and trying to deny him the ball.
But LeBron isn’t interested in the storylines pitting him against any of the Stans in this series. He’s worried about getting the Cavs ready to win Game 2, move on to the next round and eventually try to challenge for the NBA championship.

The Van Gundy-LeBron stuff is interesting, especially after SVG was fined $25,000 for complaining about James getting away with a few fouls in the first game of their series.
