Astros reach deal with outfielder Aoki for ’17
- Updated: December 1, 2016
HOUSTON — The Astros agreed to terms with outfielder Norichika Aoki on a one-year deal to avoid arbitration on Wednesday, the club announced. Aoki will be paid $5.5 million next season, a source told MLB.com, after being plucked off waivers from Seattle a month ago.
Aoki, a left-handed bat, gives the Astros an experienced platoon player who can play multiple outfield spots. He’ll join an outfield mix that includes George Springer, Jake Marisnick and Josh Reddick, who was signed last week to a four-year, $52 million deal.
