Granderson receiving more trade interest than Bruce The Mets are shopping Curtis Grandson and Jay Bruce, but Granderson has received more interest on the trade market thus far, a source told Newsday’s Marc Carig.
Carig reports that the Mets are hoping to trade one of the two after re-signing Yoenis Cespedes to a four-year, $110 million deal on Tuesday.
MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reports that the Mets received calls on both outfielders on Tuesday and prefer to trade Bruce, in part because they see Granderson as a key component of their future plans in center field.
ESPN’s Jerry Crasick reported that the Blue Jays are one of the clubs showing interest in Bruce, who hit .219 with eight home runs and 19 RBIs in 50 games with the Mets last season after being acquired from the Reds at the Trade Deadline. Multiple clubs are interested in both players, according to Carig.
Granderson has hit .241 with 76 home runs and 195 RBIs in 462 games with the Mets over the past three seasons.
Bruce is set to earn $13 million in 2017 while Granderson is owed $15 million.
Four teams in on Hill Free-agent pitcher Rich Hill should have plenty of options to mull over in the coming weeks, as the Yankees, Dodgers, Rangers and Astros are in “full pursuit” to sign him, according to ESPN’s Jim Bowden.
Hill is thought to be the top free-agent starting pitcher on the market despite the fact that he will enter his age-37 season in 2017. In 20 starts for the A’s and Dodgers in ’16, Hill boasted a 12-5 record and 2.12 ERA on his way toward compiling his first season with at least 100 innings pitched since 2007. The left-hander’s 2.00 ERA over the past two seasons ranks second behind Clayton Kershaw among starters who have thrown at least 120 innings in that time.
Though questions remain about Hill’s durability, an extremely thin market for starters has created high demand for the southpaw. Bowden also indicated the Red Sox and the Orioles — two teams that Hill has previously played for — have also shown some interest in acquiring him.
