Will Reds tender Cozart, Hamilton?

CINCINNATI — Another wave of free agents could be headed to the market at the end of this week, and some of them could be players from the Reds.

Major League teams have until 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday to tender 2017 contracts to all of their unsigned players. A non-tendered player is effectively released from his club and becomes a free agent with the ability to sign with any of the 30 clubs. Not only does this deadline affect players eligible for arbitration, but it also covers anyone on the roster with 0-3 years of big league service time.

The Reds have four players eligible for arbitration, with shortstop Zack Cozart in his third and final year of eligibility. Right-hander Blake Wood is second-year eligible, while center fielder Billy Hamilton and left-hander Tony Cingrani are eligible for the first time.

Reds general manager Dick Williams, who currently has a full 40-man roster, kept his options open regarding whether the club would offer contracts to all of its unsigned players.
