Locke designated for assignment

The Pirates designated veteran pitcher Jeff Locke for assignment Tuesday and signed right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla to take Locke’s spot on the 40-man roster.
Locke’s release comes in advance of Friday’s 11:59 p.m. ET non-tender deadline. Locke was one of eight Pirates players who are eligible for arbitration, and he was thought to be awarded upwards of $4 million in his arbitration …
