Cespedes headlines Mets’ list at Meetings

NEW YORK — Unlike last winter, when negotiations for Yoenis Cespedes dragged into late January, both Cespedes and the Mets have demonstrated a willingness to wrap up the star outfielder’s free agency quickly in 2016. In a perfect world for both team and player, that means before the end of the Winter Meetings.
MLB.com and MLB Network will have wall-to-wall coverage of the 2016 Winter Meetings from the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center outside Washington, D.C. Fans can watch live streaming of all news conferences and manager availability on MLB.com, including the Rule 5 Draft on Dec. 8 at 9 a.m. ET.
Whether Cespedes signs at the Meetings or not, his mere presence on the open market will make him the star of the week.

“He wants to be back. I think we’d like to have him back,” New York general manager Sandy Alderson said recently on WOR radio. “But there are certain limits that every team faces and certain realities that every player has to take into account. Some of them are financial. Some are not. We’ll just have to see how it goes.”
